Ambient Vibration Testing of a Dam, Canada

The measurements and analysis presented here are performed by Professor Carlos Ventura, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

This case consider measurements conducted on a Canadian dam. The dam is 130 m long and 58 m high, and built in 1930. The measurements were conducted using an 8-channel measurement system. The sensors were Kinemetrics Episensor, forced balanced accelerometers. The measurement campaign was dívided into 20 Test Setups. Each Test Setup contain 819 seconds of data, which was the maximum size at the time of testing. Modal analysis was conducted with ARTeMIS Modal Pro.

The Frequency Domain Decomposition (FDD) method, available in all versions of ARTeMIS Modal, was used in the analysis showed below.
